A system ID number does not grant any rights in Iceland and it is not possible to obtain a registered domicile in Iceland on its basis.

EEA/EFTA citizens apply to Registers Iceland for registration of legal domicile in Iceland.

Non-EEA/EFTA citizens can only get their domicile registered in Iceland after being issued a residence permit.

If you have been issued a system ID number whilst waiting for your application for a residence permit as a spouse to be processed, your legal domicile will be registered in Iceland as soon as the permit has been issued.
