Directorate of Immigration: Residence permit - General conditions
I am changing the basis for my residence permit, do I have to file the same documents as when I applied for a residence permit for the first time?
You do not have to file all the same documents as when you applied for a residence permit for the first time.
When changing the residence permit basis, you must submit the same documents as for renewal of the residence permit, i.e. a copy of the passport and means of support, together with the documents that are specific to the new residence permit.
For example, if you held a residence permit for study and wish to apply for a residence permit for for work requiring expert knowledge, you must submit a copy of your passport and supporting documents, together with an application for a work permit on the basis of for work requiring expert knowledge and an employment contract.
Further information on renewal of residence permits is available here.
