Directorate of Immigration: Residence permit cards and travel documents
Does the validity of my residence permit depend on the validity of my passport?
Yes. Your passport must be valid for at least 90 days beyond the expiry date of your residence permit.
For example, if you apply for a residence permit that can be granted for up to two years, but your passport is only valid for 18 months from the date the permit is granted, your residence permit will only be valid for 15 months. This means your residence permit will expire three months before your passport expires.
This applies when you apply for your first residence permit, renew a residence permit, or renew a residence permit card as a holder of a permanent residence permit.
