Within Iceland

Grants are awarded to education providers for teaching Icelandic to foreigners with the objective of giving them the opportunity to acquire necessary skills in Icelandic.

Grants for Icelandic lessons for foreigners

Applications are invited once a year. The application deadline is in December each year.

Conference grants are for sending teachers to a conference or course abroad. Guest lecture grants are for professional associations of teachers.

Retraining teachers at upper secondary level - SEF

Conference and guest lecture grants for upper secondary level

SEF supports and may also organize shorter or longer continuing education courses for upper secondary teachers.

Summer course grants at upper secondary level

Applications for grants to organize summer courses are submitted in the spring.

Study leave may consist of release from duties for up to one year, either full-time or part-time, or of payment of monthly salary or a proportion of salary for up to one year.

Grants for study leave in upper secondary schools
