Project grant from Sprotasjóður: The Icelandic innovation fund for schools

Applications are open once a year. The application deadline is at the beginning of each year (late January or early February).

Sprotasjóður: The Icelandic innovation fund for schools is a joint fund for nursery, primary and secondary schools and supports development and innovation in school activities in accordance with government policy (education policy until 2030) and the national curriculum.

What is not funded?

• Core activities or regular operating costs.

• Staff time spent on the project

  , unless it is clear from the project description that the work falls outside the employee’s normal duties and is additional to their regular responsibilities. If the project forms part of an employee’s normal work, the associated costs should be recorded as co-financing.

• Purchase of equipment or development of facilities, except to a limited extent where this is essential for the project and it is clear that the costs do not fall under core activities or regular operating costs.

Please note that grants awarded by Sprotasjóður in recent years have generally ranged from ISK 500,000 to ISK 5 million.
