Cervical cancer screening
Guidelines for cervical screening
-Automatic translation
The Directorate of Health's guidelines are based on Danish guidelines published by Sundhedsstyrelsen (Danish) and National Styregruppe for Livmoderhalskræftsscreening (Danish). Denmark has specific local screening guidelines, but the Icelandic guidelines are based on the capital region (Region Hovedstaden).
As of 1 January 2024, women aged 23-29 are invited to screening every three years, testing with HPV primary instead of cytology (see flow chart).
The quality of screening is not affected.
The flow charts for the age groups 30-59 and 60-64 remain unchanged.
