For the 2026 summer season, Norð Austur Sushi & Bar is looking for a passionate and skilled sushi chef to join our young, international, and vibrant team in the beautiful fjord town of Seyðisfjörður.

Our restaurant is located in the heart of Seyðisfjörður, a charming and creative town in East Iceland surrounded by mountains and the fjord. At Norð Austur, we work with some of the freshest fish available and create modern sushi with deep respect for our raw ingredients and Japanese traditions.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a close-knit team, and is excited to spend a summer in one of Iceland’s most beautiful small communities.

Job details and requirements
• Available from late May or early June 2026
• Proven experience working as a sushi chef
• Support the head chef in daily operations
• Work according to menu specifications and presentation standards
• Prepare daily mise en place and contribute to food production across kitchen sections
• Maintain high standards, consistency, and cleanliness at all times
• Stay curious and open to new products, recipes, and techniques
• Flexible, positive, and team-oriented mindset

Salary and working schedule
Salary is paid in accordance with Icelandic collective agreements and is based on the employee’s working hours.
The position involves chef shifts at a sushi restaurant where the kitchen is open from 18:00 to 22:00. Shifts are typically 8–9 hours long and are divided evenly among the chefs. One shift focuses more on preparation and runs from 12:00 to 22:00, while the closing shift runs from 15:00 to 23:00.
We aim to hire four chefs who will rotate these shifts. The working schedule is approximately 185 hours per month, with a minimum of two days off per week.
For this workload, the salary is approximately ISK 770,000 per month. Any hours worked beyond this are paid as overtime.
