Safety equipment

Safety and protective equipment, such as helmets and elbow, wrist and knee guards, are recommended when travelling in traffic on:

  • scooter

  • skateboarding

  • roller skates

  • other playground equipment

It is important to follow, as accidents on the scooter, skateboard, roller skates and other playthings in traffic are quite common and the injuries can be serious. To reduce the likelihood of accidents:

  • to educate road users on the importance of always using the correct safety equipment

  • monitor the condition of play equipment, as many accidents can be traced to malfunctions in play equipment

Road users on a scooter, skateboard or inline skates shall

  • use a sidewalk or pathway

  • stay on the right and move past others on the left

  • take into account and subordinate pedestrians

  • using a flat surface without circulation

  • not belong to roads
