Request a Correction of Import Charges
You can request a correction of import charges if you believe that the customs clearance was based on incorrect or incomplete information.
Applications must be submitted within six years of the customs clearance date of the goods.
You must demonstrate that an error was made
If the correction would result in lower charges, you must provide:
the information used for the customs clearance was incorrect or incomplete; and
the correct information and supporting documents.
How to apply
Applications are submitted electronically through the Customs Web Clearance Service (VEF-tollafgreiðsla).
Select "Afgreiðsla 2" from the menu.
Enter the consignment number and click "Leita" (Search).
Click "Staðfesta" (Confirm) to create a copy of the declaration.
Open the copy, correct the information and submit it.
You must also send an email to skjalaskil@skatturinn.is:
include the consignment number in the subject line;
explain what information is being corrected; and
attach supporting documents relevant to your request.
Outcome
You will receive a decision informing you whether your request has been approved or rejected.
If the import charges change as a result of the review, they will be adjusted accordingly.
