Notification of the import of a powerful laser, powerful laser pointer or IPL device
Imports of powerful lasers, powerful laser pointers and IPL devices need to be reported to the Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority. Anyone importing such devices shall notify the import to the Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority before it takes place.
Powerful lasers and powerful laser pointers shall comply with ÍST EN 60825-1:2014 (cf. regulation no. 171/2021). Every device shall be CE marked as well as have labels regarding classification and dangers while in use.
The Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority may seek information from other public authorities, such as the Director of Customs, on the import of powerful lasers, powerful laser pointers and IPL devices.

About the laser or the IPL device
Lasers of Class 3R, 3B, and 4 are considered high-powered lasers acc. to the ÍST EN 60825-1:2014 standard. The use of high-powered lasers and IPL devices is unlawful without notification to Geislavarnir ríkisins, cf. regulation no. 171/2021.
