Processing certificate
When exporting catches or products from foreign vessels that have been processed in Iceland to Europe, a processing statement must be included.
Purpose of processing statement
A processing statement confirms that:
the catch was processed by a processing licence holder with a valid processing licence from the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority (MAST)
the product being exported is processed from a catch that was accompanied by a valid catch certificate upon importation to Iceland.
Responsibility of importers and re-export to the EU
Importers of foreign fish products who intend to re-export products to the European Union (EU) market area must ensure that:
the seller of the catch provides a catch certificate for the catch upon importation to Iceland.
the catch certificate is stamped by the flag state of the fishing vessel.
Validation of a processing statement
To have a processing statement validated, you must:
fill out a processing statement in accordance with the information on the catch certificate that accompanied the catch upon importation.
send the completed processing statement along with a copy of the catch certificate to the email address vottord@fiskistofa.is
an employee of the Directorate of Fisheries review the statement.
if the information is correct, a validated statement will be sent back by email
