Early voting

Early voting began 27 July
If a voter cannot vote on election day they can vote early, at the District Commissioners offices or abroad.

Voters in Iceland can vote at the offices of District Commissioners and in some municipalities.

Voting abroad
Voters must look at the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to see if there are certain opening times for early voting at embassies and consuls in the country concerned. Identification, such as a driver’s license or passport, is required. Voters themselves are responsible for making sure their vote is delivered, for example via mail or someone brings it to Iceland for them.
