Draft Regulation on the establishment of coastal zone planning

A draft regulation on the establishment of a coastal zone plan is currently being discussed in the government consultation portal. It is a new regulation based on Act No. 88/2018 on the organization of maritime and coastal areas.

The regulation is based on the law no. 88/2018 on the organization of maritime and coastal areas, the law stipulates the creation of a coastal area plan for defined areas on fjords and bays outside the local boundaries of municipalities. The coastal area plan sets out a policy for the future use and protection of the area. A special regional council is responsible for the creation of a coastal area plan in each area, but the organization of the coastal area is carried out under the authority of the relevant regional council. The regulation further elaborates the work of regional councils and the involvement of parties defined in the law on the organization of maritime and coastal areas, as well as further elaborating the focus of the creation of a coastal area plan.
