Annual Audits of Digital Taxi Dispatch Systems

The digital systems used by taxi dispatch centres are subject to an annual audit by an independent third-party auditor approved by the Icelandic Transport Authority.

The following audit providers have been approved:

• BSI á Íslandi ehf.

• KPMG

• Syndis

The Icelandic Transport Authority reserves the right to withdraw its approval and remove an auditor from the list of approved audit providers if the auditor no longer meets the Authority's requirements for carrying out the audits.

The audits assess, among other things, the security and quality of data, including its recording, transmission, storage and retention, as well as the accessibility of information to supervisory authorities. They also verify that the systems comply with requirements relating to data protection, encryption and access control, and that electronic records are reliable. This includes, among other things, records concerning satellite (GPS) data, information on operating licence holders and professional licence holders, vehicle identification, pricing information, payment arrangements, the number of available taxis, their locations, and the service areas in which they operate.

Taxi dispatch centres are responsible for the cost of the annual audits.

The Icelandic Transport Authority monitors the quality of the audits and their findings and may require an additional audit if it considers this necessary.
