Amendments to the legal framework for digital judicial procedures

On 1 July, amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act, the Civil Procedure Act and the Bankruptcy Code will take effect, aiming to make communications in the legal system technically neutral and to create the conditions for more use of technical solutions in the judicial process.

On 18 April, Sigurður Tómas Magnússon was elected Vice-President of the Supreme Court of Iceland from 1 August until the end of 2026.

Nordic judges’ conference in Reykjavík

A conference on active management of civil cases was organised by SEND (Samvinnustofnun för Efterutbildning av Nordens Domare) in Reykjavik, 6 - 8 May. A number of different perspectives, including those of lawyers, were discussed and how the future might look with more technological development and artificial intelligence.
