Legal fees for the handling of civil cases before the National Court:
1. Appeal
The fee for an appeal is ISK 70.000 and is paid by the District Court.
2. Appeals permission
The fee for an appeal is ISK 70.000.
3. The policy of appeal
The fee for appeal policy is:
ISK 34,000 when the amount of appeal is up to ISK 3,000,000.
ISK 70.000 when the amount of appeal is ISK 3,000,000–30,000,000 and when the rights and/or obligations are recognised.
ISK 176,000 when the appeal amount is ISK 30,000,000 to 90,000,000.
ISK 269,000 when the amount of appeal is ISK 90,000,000 to 150,000,000.
ISK 404,000 when the appeal amount is ISK 150,000,000 or more.
4. Parliamentary Assembly
The fee for parliamentary confirmation is ISK 34,000.
Replicas and photocopies
For a copy and photocopy on each page, 300 ISK.
Fees are not paid in the following cases:
1. Cases for collecting wages. 2. Child paternity cases. 3. Cases for challenging the paternity of a child. 4. Legal libel cases. 5. Electoral cases. 6. Civil penal cases. 7. Taxation cases in so far as the fee would be imposed on the taxpayer. 8. Presence cases. 9. Delivery cases cf. Act No. 160/1995. (Act on the recognition and enforcement of foreign decisions on custody of children, the delivery of children who have been expelled, etc.)

1. Appeals or Requests for Appeals
The fee for an appeal or a request for an appeal with an appeal is ISK 70.000 and is paid to the National Court.
2. Appeals permission
The fee for an appeal is ISK 70.000. The fee is not collected until the authorisation is received.
3. The policy of appeal
The fee for appeal policy is:
When the amount of appeal is up to ISK 3,000,000, the fee is ISK 34,000.
When the amount of appeal is ISK 3,000,000 - 30,000,000 and when the rights and/or obligations are recognised, the fee is ISK 70.000.
When the amount of appeal is ISK 30,000,000 - 90,000,000, the fee is ISK 176,000.
When the amount of appeal is 90,000,000 to 150,000,000, the fee is ISK 269,000.
When the amount of appeal is 150,000,000 or more, the fee is ISK 404,000.
4. Parliamentary Assembly
The fee for a parliamentary confirmation is ISK 34,000.

The court fees for the handling of civil cases before the Supreme Court are stipulated in Article 1, paragraph 3 of Act No. 88/1991 on Extra Revenue from the Treasury.
About the court tariff
Court fees were last amended on 1 January 2023, but they are collected on the basis of the Act on Extra Revenue of the Treasury no. 88/1991 with subsequent amendments.
