Seminar on the three-tier justice system

A seminar on three-level justice, benefits and challenges was held in the Court of Justice on Thursday 21 November.

The seminar on the Supreme Court and the Administrative Court of Justice on the three-tier justice system, benefits and challenges was held in the Courtroom of the Supreme Court on Thursday 21 November. The seminar was attended by judges at all judicial levels and lawyers working for the courts.

The seminar was devided in two parts. In the first part, the speakers discussed the change in the justice system established in 2018 from their perspective. Participants were the lawyers Berglind Svavarsdóttir, Óttar Pálsson and Stefán Andrew Svensson and Sigríður Friðjónsdóttir, State Prosecutor. The first part of the seminar was conducted by Sigurður Tómas Magnússon, Vice President of the Supreme Court.

In the second part of the seminar, judges at all judicial levels participated and discussed the experiences. Participants were Benedikt Bogason, President of the Supreme Court, Eiríkur Jónsson, Vice President of the Court of Appeal, Halldóra Þorsteinsdóttir, District Judge and Ingibjörg Þorsteinsdóttir, Chief Judge at the Reykjavík District Court. The second part of the seminar was conducted by Kristín Haraldsdóttir, Director of Judical Administration.
