Courses for assessors

The Icelandic Bar Association and the Judicial Administration organise a course for judges appointed by the courts. The role of the assessors will be reviewed and their work from their appointment to their judgment; until they deliver their evaluation and/or appear in court.
The Icelandic Bar Association and the Judicial Administration organise a course for judges appointed by the courts. The role of the assessors will be reviewed and their work from their appointment to their judgment; until they deliver their evaluation and/or appear in court.
Furthermore, the provisions of private law concerning the work of assessors and the making of assessments, the preparation of evaluation meetings, the installation of evaluations and field work will be discussed. At the end of the second course day, a discussion will be held in the Reykjavík District Court where the district court judge will reveal more details of the relations between assessors appointed by the courts and answer questions.
The course is intended for all those who have been assessors or wish to serve as assessors in a court in their field of expertise, such as industrialists, technicians, engineers, doctors, lawyers, psychologists, business professionals and accountants. The course is accompanied by detailed instructions for judges appointed by the court, which also contains interesting judgments relating to the work of assessors.
