The Icelandic Bar Association and the District Court are organizing a course for judges. The role of judges and their work will be reviewed from the time of their conviction until they submit their assessment and/or attend court.
The Icelandic Bar Association and the District Court organise a course for court-appointed assessors. The role of assessors and their work will be reviewed from the time of their appointment until they submit an evaluation and/or appear before the court. The provisions of the Civil Code concerning the work of assessors and the preparation of evaluation reports, the preparation of evaluation meetings, the installation of evaluation reports and work on the scene will also be reviewed. At the end of the following course day, a seminar will be held in the District Court of Reykjavík, where the district judge will further inform the judges about the relations between judges and the courts and answer questions.
The course is intended for all those who have been assessors or want to become assessors in their field of expertise. The course is accompanied by a handbook for court-appointed assessors, which can also be purchased from the Icelandic Bar Association.
