Instructions for supervisors

Supervision

  • Is responsible for his own education and is committed to gaining extensive knowledge and competence in all areas of rehabilitation.

  • In the course of his studies he takes into account the objectives and keeps a progress report, including for specific assessment methods (CbD, mini-Cex, Dops, WBA etc.).

  • It is expected that the physical therapists will attend lectures, both in the educational program of the specialized medical doctors and in organized education by the rehabilitation doctors/training center.

  • The special education doctor himself holds at least three lectures each year on the subject of the subject.

  • It is assumed that the special education doctor will either submit a project or give a lecture on material from each department he works in. If an interesting seminar or meeting is available, the employer (team leader where the special education doctor is at any given time) with the assistance of the instructor shall try to do the best he can to facilitate the workplace so that the special education doctor can participate.

  • If a special education doctor wishes to take part of a program abroad, he must find out with the help of the instructor which places are suitable and how best to do so. This must be available at the beginning of the special education program.

  • The special education doctor participates in the education of medical students, doctors in vocational training (candidates), department doctors or others who are in professional studies at Grensásdeild and Reykjalund.

  • It is desirable that a special education doctor is a participant in a formal scientific study, if possible.

  • It is desirable that the post-graduate examiner should pass a post-graduate examination by the European Association of Rehabilitation Physicians, which is a member of the EUMS.

  • The specialist treats his patients with increasing responsibility under the guidance of a responsible specialist physician. This includes a check-in register with relevant information, an examination, a problem list and a rehabilitation plan. He attends team meetings, goals and family meetings and follows matters.

  • A specialist physician is a member of the professional team of each department.

  • The special education doctor participates in the development of the activities at the later stages of the studies.

a) General guidance The guidance shall be given once a month, 45-60 minutes at a time, by a supervisor who accompanies the medical examiner through the course. The guidance concerns professional skills and abilities, knowledge acquisition, communication with patients and staff, and the related diagnosis and rehabilitation of patients, which is carried out by the specialist medical examiner. The guidance is also a forum for discussing professional development, possibilities for specialization and research, quality projects, development of services and special education and reviewing problems that may arise in the workplace. The specialist medical examiner discusses or reviews at least monthly the registration in the medical examiner's progress file. b) Clinical guidance The guidance and advice provided by a specialist/supervisor in the department where the medical examiner works at any given time. This guidance is mainly about daily clinical work. The guidance is carried out in a variety of ways during the course of the work; direct conversations with the supervisor, by sitting down and discussing specific matters, by the supervisor monitoring the medical examiner's limited work or by reading and discussing the medical records of the medical examiner with the person concerned (CbD).

Educational supervisor

  • Each special education doctor has one main supervisor, called a special education supervisor.

  • The special education instructor must have a specialist qualification in rehabilitation medicine and must have attended an appropriate training course (e. Train the trainers).

  • The instructor shall ensure that the specialized medical practitioner has at each stage of training achieved the required knowledge and skills as stated in the specification of the specialized profession.

  • He evaluates the performance of the special education physician according to the progress register, see section on assessment of progress of studies in the target description.

  • His role is to be a support and shortstop for the special education doctor. He guides the doctor through the course and encourages independent practice, quality and scientific work.

  • The instructor meets with a specialist medical practitioner regularly (every 1-2 months) and reviews the progress of the study, assessment sheets, knowledge acquisition, communication with partners, ideas regarding quality and/or research work, etc.

  • The student doctor should be able to consult his/her special education assistant regarding anything that may arise during the course of study.

  • The special education instructor shall review both the strengths and weaknesses of the special education physician in order to strengthen him/her in his/her professional capacity, develop him/her as a professional and ensure that professional knowledge, competence and ability are optimized for each stage of the special education.

  • If cooperation between the educational health professional and the instructor is difficult, the teacher shall be consulted. He/she will evaluate the situation and assign the educational health professional another specialized instructor if necessary.

Clinical supervisor

  • The instructor is each specialist physician who works with the medical examiner at each facility.

  • The instructor must have knowledge of the target profile, and of the skills and learning objectives based on the level of the special education program and be able to evaluate skills and knowledge.

  • The instructor will give feedback about the special education doctor to the special education instructor.
