Specialization in obstetrics and gynecology
Table of contents
Introduction
Duration: 3 years
Collaboration: Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist /RCOG
Objectives
Specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology is carried out in the obstetrics and gynaecology department at Landspítali. Structured specialist training in the field has been offered for several years. A change was made a few years ago when collaboration began with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in the UK, and the structure of the training in Iceland is therefore largely based on the well-developed framework provided by RCOG. The association’s website is www.rcog.org.uk.
The total length of specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology is approximately five years. Following the core training, additional training in various subspecialties of the field may be undertaken later.
Please note that Landspítali offers only the first three years of specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology.
The curriculum for the training is approved by the Evaluation and Credentials Committee of the Ministry of Welfare.
