Scientific Council at Landspitali

The Science Council is an interdisciplinary council and its members are appointed by the CEO of Landspítali.

Role of the Landspítali Science Council

  • To advise the CEO and the Executive Board on science-related matters within the hospital, including contracting and collaboration on science-related matters with other institutions and companies.

  • To be responsible for and oversee the entire process of grants from the Landspítali Science Fund, including advertising for grants, evaluating submitted applications for research grants, and allocating grants from the fund.

  • To oversee "Science in Springtime" (Vísindi á vordögum), the annual science harvest festival at the hospital, where scientific work is presented to hospital staff, academics, and the public, and project grants are awarded to scientists.

  • To manage the selection and recognition for scientific work at Landspítali.
