The Surgical Day Unit accepts children and adults who require surgery

In Fossvogur, the following procedures are performed: orthopaedic surgery, ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgery, neurosurgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and vascular surgery. In addition, patients are received for:

• Interventions and examinations by radiologists

• Those who have visited the emergency department in Fossvogur and require surgery afterward

The Process

• Patients arrive at the unit in the morning on the day of the surgery and are prepared for the procedure.

• Patients who do not need to be admitted to the inpatient ward after surgery will return to A5 to recover before being discharged home.

• Other patients will be admitted to the inpatient ward after surgery.
