The occupational therapists at Landspítali assist patients who have difficulty with daily activities after an accident or illness.

Assessment of

  • patients' skills in daily activities (ADL)

  • conditions and their aid needs

  • cognitive abilities of patients

After assessment, a plan is prepared in consultation with healthcare professionals with the goal of improving the patient’s skills and preparing for the next rehabilitation steps or discharge.

Counseling and training

Occupational therapists help improve quality of life and independence by providing advice and training to develop skills for daily life, such as:

  • self-care

  • home and family

  • study and work

  • leisure

Service requests

Requests come from the hospital's healthcare professionals and a treatment plan is made in consultation with professionals.
