The role of the pallative
The palliative care team is a specialized palliative care service and provides counseling within and outside Landspítali. Its main role is to provide advice to healthcare professionals:
in assessing and treating symptoms that occur during illness
due to communication difficulties due to discharges
for discharges when specialized home care is needed or admission to a hospice.
The team also provides direct counseling and support to patients and relatives in the outpatient ward and by telephone. The team conducts teaching, research and development in the field of palliative care.
