Spring allocation from the National University Hospital Science Fund 2024 – Incentive and project grants

The Landspítali University Research Fund has allocated grants to researchers at Landspítali University Hospital. The allocation took place at the spring meetings of the Scientific Committee on 23 April, but the beneficiaries were informed of the proposed grant granting electronically some time before.

Grants were granted in 2 categories, incentive grants up to a maximum of ISK 5 m and project grants up to a maximum of ISK 2.5 m.

The total number of applications received for grants from the Fund for Science and Engineering (SCI) this year was 74, with a total grant amount of almost ISK 195 million. 4 incentive grants totalling ISK 20 million and 60 project grants totalling nearly ISK 95 million were allocated from the Fund this year. The total amount of grants allocated was approximately ISK 95 million.

The Landspítali Science Fund usually provides over ISK 100 million per year in scientific grants to the employees of the hospital. The purpose of the fund is to support and promote scientific research at the hospital. The Landspítali Science Council is responsible for and supervises the professional evaluation of the applications received by the fund.
