The Muscle Protection Day

27th March 2025

09:00 to 15:25

Reykjavik University

The University of Iceland and the departments of sports and psychology at the University of Reykjavík are organizing the Day of Muscle Protection in collaboration with Landspítali University Hospital. The conference will be held on Thursday 27 March 2025 at the University of Reykjavík.

The conference is for all those who are interested in muscle protection, nutrition and improving quality of life.

Foreign and Icelandic scholars in the fields of health and sports will have a mission to open up a dialogue between professionals, the public and sports science.

This is the second time that Vöðvaverndardagurinn is held. The day is dedicated to preventing muscle atrophy, which can have serious consequences in the early years.

This year we will highlight the importance of disseminating valid information in modern society. The focus will be on awareness and muscle protection, but individualized exercise is very effective in treating degeneration, muscle atrophy, osteoporosis, fall protection and maintaining mobility.

Both healthcare professionals and the general public have limited awareness of the importance of muscle protection. The goal of the conference is to support the general public and specialists in distinguishing between correct information and misinformation when it comes to muscle protection.

The lecturers are experts in geriatric medicine, training and health sciences, nutrition, behavioral sciences and education.
