The lectures are part of the education and training in connection with DCD donation at Landspítali University Hospital.
Lecturers
Pia Löwhagen. Anesthesiology and intensive care physician, Sahlgrenska sjúkrahúsið in Gothenburg. Surgeon of donors in the West Gothenburg region of Sweden (Västra Götalands region, VGR). Discusses end-of-life treatment and DCD from the point of view of an intensive care physician.
Ingrid Sandgren. Intensive care nurse at Varberg Hospital. Care nurse at VGR. Reviews the role of nurses in the intensive care unit and other aspects of the care of the patient and family members in the DCD process.
Monica Thomson. Surgeon in the organ donation team at Sahlgrenska sjúkrahúsið. Reviews the role of nurses and the importance of preparation in the operating room.
Lunch break
Markus Gäbel. Organ transplant surgeon. Discusses the transplantation process from the perspective of the surgeon, for all organs used. Discusses both Rapid Recovery (for lungs and kidneys) and NRP.
Petra Vestlund. Coordinator of the transplant team. Discusses their role in the overall process of each transplant.
