European Congress of Geriatric Medicine Held in Harpa

The European Congress of Geriatric Medicine (EuGMS 2025) will take place in Reykjavík from September 24th to 26th, marking the first time this major conference has been held in Iceland.

The congress is one of the main platforms for geriatric physicians and other professional groups in geriatric care, as well as scientists in the field of geriatrics and gerontology, to meet and share research and experience.

The conference will cover the latest research, treatment options, and policy-making in the field of geriatrics. Special emphasis will be placed on the societal challenges that accompany the increasing number of older individuals with multimorbidity and frailty, and the importance of diverse services.

Icelandic society faces the same challenges as other European countries: an increase in older individuals with multiple chronic conditions, which requires new thinking, increased integration, and new solutions in health and social services.
