Announcement of planned strike action by the Icelandic Medical Association 25 November to 28 November

The Icelandic Medical Association has called strikes, which will begin on Monday, November 25th, if no agreement is reached by that date and will cover doctors who work under the collective agreements of the Icelandic Medical Association.

Good to age – Signing of agreement on the operation of integrated home care services for the elderly in Húnaþing vestra

The Healthcare Institution of West Iceland (HVE) and the municipality of Húnaþing vestra have signed an agreement on the operation of integrated home care for senior citizens in Húnaþing vestra. The agreement is based on participation in the government’s development project “Getting older”, which was approved by the Icelandic parliament, Althingi, on 10 May 2023.

Grant from the memorial fund of Bergþóra Magnúsdóttir and Jakob Bjarnason

The West Iceland Healthcare Institution has received a grant from the memorial fund of Bergþóra Magnúsdóttir and Jakob Bjarnason. The memorial fund is managed by the Directorate of Health and grants are granted from it to projects intended to improve the quality and safety of healthcare.

Annual meeting of the West Iceland Health Institute

The annual meeting of the West Iceland Health Institute will take place on Thursday, September 5, 14-16 in the meeting room of HVE in Akranes.

1700 telephone consultation

In the past year, efforts have been made to improve and integrate services and advice for illness and emergency with telephone consultation at 1700, which is provided by the Information Centre for Health Care in the Capital Area (HH).

Currently, bills from the West Iceland Healthcare Authority are electronic and the sending of paper invoices and payment notes will cease.

Referrals by primary care physicians TO paediatric specialists

Health care centres in HVE will participate in changing procedures encouraged by the Association of Icelandic General Practitioners (FÍH) regarding referrals for children, cf. regulations in this regard: https://island.is/Regulations/nr/0313-2017 .
