The Coordination Center for Cancer Screenings

General information

The Coordination Center for Cancer Screening (CCCS) plays a key role in the organization and development of cancer screening in Iceland and works systematically to ensure the quality of screening services. The CCCS is responsible for sending invitation and results letters and for quality assurance to ensure that screenings are carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Directorate of Health. In addition, the CCCS provides education and guidance on cancer screening for health care professionals and the general public.

Cancer screening is the regular examination of asymptomatic individuals to detect cancer or precancerous conditions.

Organized screening makes it possible to detect disease at an early stage, before symptoms appear, thereby increasing the likelihood of more effective treatment and improved outcomes.
