The Cybersecurity Division of ECOI carries out risk-based and preventive supervision of cybersecurity and information security within designated critical telecommunications infrastructure, digital service providers, and core digital infrastructure.
The Division also conducts general and sector-specific cybersecurity risk assessments, evaluates the capabilities of organisations, tests cyber defences, analyses incidents, and issues instructions regarding necessary corrective measures.
In addition, the Division leads cooperation among cybersecurity supervisory authorities, participates in European policy development initiatives, and contributes to NATO committee work relating to the resilience of telecommunications services and networks.
Alongside its cybersecurity responsibilities, the Division oversees trust services and serves as the coordinating body for Eyvör, Iceland’s cybersecurity competence centre.
