Visit from Greenland
8th October 2025
At the end of September, the Directorate of Fisheries' surveillance division received a special guest from Greenland.

Arnar, Jannik and Óli Þór with one of the Directorate of Fisheries' drones
Jannik Holm, a regional manager at the sister agency of the Directorate of Fisheries in Nuuk, Grønlands Fiskeri- og Jagtkontrol , participated in drone surveillance with Arnar and Óli Þór, employees of the Directorate of Fisheries' surveillance division in Akureyri, and commented that they were “top men with great knowledge.”
Jannik stayed in Iceland for a few days and, among other things, visited the Directorate of Fisheries' office in Hafnarfjörður. There, he went on a field inspection with inspector Sigurður Birgir.
After his visit, he continued to East Greenland for further work but made a short stop in Iceland on his way home, as there are no direct flights from East Greenland to Nuuk.
Visits like these are crucial for maintaining close cooperation and strong ties between sister agencies in the field of surveillance and fisheries management in the northern hemisphere. They also create an important platform for sharing mutual knowledge and experience, which strengthens the future work of both parties.
