This year, the Icelandic Coast Guard celebrates its 100th anniversary, which adds a pleasant and special touch to its operations this year.

The meeting reviewed the main joint projects of the agencies and priorities in surveillance activities. Among the topics discussed were:

• surveillance of salmon and trout fishing,

• coastal fishing, and

• joint maritime surveillance.

In addition, other matters relating to the continued cooperation between the Directorate of Fisheries and the Coast Guard were discussed.

The meeting underlined the importance of good consultation between the agencies in their shared role of protecting and safeguarding the resources of the sea and waters.
