Results of the reweighing inspection with regard to ice percentage

The Directorate of Fisheries has published the results of the reweighing inspection with regard to ice percentage for those weighing licensees who were subject to inspection from the 1st of January 2024.

The number of weighing licensees in Iceland is fairly stable year on year and 2024 was no exception.
Number of weighing licensees in 2024:
79 reweighing licensees
17 home weighing licensees
If there are significant deviations in the ice percentage of a vessel's catch compared to the average ice percentage of the vessel in the previous landings, the Directorate of Fisheries is authorized to monitor the weighing of the weighing licensee in question for up to six weeks.
6 licensees were subject to 6 weeks of monitoring due to deviations in the ice percentage in the previous landings before the Directorate of Fisheries inspectors conducted a reweighing.
