The allocation takes into account fishing in the years 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 and considers the three best years when calculating the quota share, the Directorate of Fisheries is not authorized to base its calculations on other years.

Before the allocation is implemented, in some cases it is possible to transfer catch performance between vessels if certain conditions are met. Please note that transferring lumpfish rights between vessels is no longer possible.

Note

• Application for transfer of catch performance must be submitted to the Directorate of Fisheries together with the necessary supporting documents no later than 2nd of January 2025.

• After the allocation has been implemented, quota share and catch quota are fixed to the fishing area in which the vessel is registered, based on the home port of the vessel according to the ship register of the Icelandic Transport Authority.

• It is not permitted to transfer quota shares in lumpfish between vessels before the 31st of August 2026, unless measures are being taken to bring those vessels that receive more than 1.5% within the statutory maximum.

• Fishing obligation for lumpfish will be the same as for other quota-based species.
