During coastal fishing, 12 days of fishing may be done within each month in May, June, July and August, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

It is prohibited to fish on the following dates:

  • 9th of May

  • 20th of May

  • 17th of June

  • 5th of August

A single fishing trip is permitted per day and cannot last longer than 14 hours. This is based on the time the ship leaves the port to fish until it returns to port for landing.

For a fishing trip to be considered as a daytrip, a ship must leave the port to fish on the day it returns to the port for landing, that is within the same day.

If a situation arises in which it is impossible to for the vessel to return to the port for landing within the 14 hours the captain should report the incident to the port.

Each vessel is only allowed to land 650 kg in cod values after a fishing trip and catch exceeding that limit is considered unlawful catch and does not give any rights with regard to regional quotas.
