In the coming days, the total catch of Icelandic vessels in the Norwegian jurisdiction is expected to reach 6,405 tons, which is the quantity permitted to be caught without the catch being auctioned at Norges Sildesalgslag SA.

Auction obligation for catches

Once the total catch of Icelandic vessels in the Norwegian jurisdiction has reached 6,405 tons, the following applies:

• Catches made after this limit has been reached must be auctioned at Norges Sildesalgslag SA.

• The auction obligation applies to all catches made in Norway's economic zone after the reference quantity has been reached.

Changes to fishing authorisations

The Directorate of Fisheries has also amended vessels' authorisations for mackerel fishing in the Norwegian jurisdiction.

Vessels are now permitted to utilise their catch authorisations in:

• the Norwegian jurisdiction,

• the Faroese jurisdiction,

• the Icelandic jurisdiction,

• and international waters.

When vessels have fully utilised the mackerel authorisations allocated to them in the Norwegian jurisdiction, any catch exceeding the authorisations will be deducted from the vessel's other catch authorisations.
