Diversity cards
The diversity cards can be used in various ways and are intended as a tool for workplaces to discuss diversity in the labour market.
The cards are available in Icelandic and English.
See on the Icelandic page
Task 1:
Each group receives one card.
The group tries to put themselves in the role of those involved in the scenario (the individual, the manager, colleagues, policymakers).
It is also possible to divide roles between groups, i.e. one group considers the situation from the perspective of the individual, another from the manager’s perspective, and so on.
Reflect on and discuss the following questions:
Do you think the challenge they are facing is simple or complex? In what way?
Does it differ depending on the stakeholders involved?
Did you feel that anything was missing, e.g. questions or reflections from someone? If so, from whom?
Suggest possible solutions for the workplace.
Task 2:
The group receives a basic outline with only a few details about an individual.
The group then works together to create one card – with a focus on identifying the challenges and, at the end, formulating questions:
What are managers asking themselves? What about the individual? And colleagues?
Final discussion:
How did it go to create the card? Did you find it difficult or easy?
Did you feel this helped you put yourselves in others’ shoes?
Is this useful for your workplace?
Other:
The cards can be used in many different ways—let your imagination lead the way. For example, participants can be assigned roles and asked to role-play a conversation between those involved (colleagues, the individual, and the manager).
