About radioactive substances in consumer products

After receiving a query that a product containing radioactive materials was being sold in Iceland, the Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority had it recalled in early 2024. As a consequence, the Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority decided to conduct a market survey to determine whether more products containing radioactive materials were being sold in Iceland.

Situation in Iran: No evidence of increased radiation levels after attacks on nuclear installations

The Icelandic National Radiation Safety Authority (‘IRS) has been monitoring the development of the situation in Iran closely since the Israeli air strikes on several nuclear installations on 13 June. The US then attacked three nuclear installations in Iran on 22 June, including two installations with centrifuges for uranium enrichment.

Product recall: Stickers marked with Quantum Shield

The Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority calls attention to a recall of the product Quantum Shield – Nano technology. Quantum Shield are stickers made by Fan Yun Craft Electronics Co in China. Quantum Shield contains a small amount of radioactive material and if the stickers are put on the skin, it causes unnecessary radiation to people. Radiation from radioactive materials can cause damage to people and increase the risk of cancer.
