Song Contest part of the Great Forest Day
The esteemed Great Forest Day in the Hallormsstaður National Forest commemorates its 20th anniversary with an exceptional program the 21st and 22nd of June. This includes among lots of other things the annual Icelandic Logging Championship, as well as a unique song competition specifically organised to celebrate two decades of this prominent forest event in Iceland.
The Great Forest Day, known as Skógardagurinn mikli in Icelandic, is an annual family-oriented event held at the Hallormsstaður National Forest around Midsummer. A prominent feature of this festival is the Icelandic Logging Championship, which attracts participants from across the country. In addition to an on-stage program and various activities, visitors can indulge in a delectable barbecue featuring a whole-grilled bull, succulent lamb meat, and savory sausages, all complemented by authentic foresters' coffee, meticulously kettle-brewed over an open fire.
This year, the event is scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of June. In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Great Forest Day, a song contest has been organised and will conclude during the main event on Saturday, the 22nd.
