From Plant to Plank – The Annual Icelandic Forest Science Conference 2025

The 2025 Icelandic Annual Forest Science Conference, Fagráðstefna skógræktar, will be held at Hotel Hallormsstaður on March 26th and 27th. The first day will focus on current advancements in forest planning, planting, management, and harvesting techniques in Iceland and internationally. The Conference program is now available with abstracts for presentations and posters.

Minister and MP visit Land and Forest

On Thursday, February 27th, Minister of Environment, Energy, and Climate Change Jóhann Páll Jóhannsson visited Land and Forest Iceland in Gunnarsholt, accompanied by his staff. Parliamentary members also toured the facility during their constituency week.

Icelandic timber offers significant potential for diverse product development. Global timber demand is increasing, and Icelandic forests will yield substantially more timber in the coming years. This is a key finding from a report commissioned by the South Iceland Forest Owners' Association, summarising initial assessments of Icelandic forest resource utilisation.
