Twelve Software Companies in a New Framework Agreement for Digital Iceland
Twelve software companies have been selected in a recently completed interdisciplinary framework tender for software development. This is the third time that Digital Iceland has conducted such a tender, and this time it attracted significant interest and participation.
The Digital Iceland framework agreement works such that private sector entities offer their expertise in two types of teams: full-stack teams and web teams. This is not a tender for a specific project but rather for interdisciplinary expert teams that will participate in development projects and the digital transformation of the public sector in collaboration with Digital Iceland.
A total of 23 companies submitted bids for full-stack teams, and 14 companies submitted bids for web teams. The tender methodology, which focuses on offering expertise rather than bidding on a specific task, has proven to be an effective approach in public procurement in recent years. Public procurement authorities from across the world have shown great interest in this process.
This represents a significant investment in the digital infrastructure of the public sector and the development of Ísland.is. As mentioned, this is the third time the process has been conducted in this way, bringing with it valuable experience.
The next few weeks will be spent on training, prioritization, and transferring knowledge to new teams. The new framework agreement is expected to take formal effect at the end of June.

Dev environment security tested
In the coming weeks, the so-called dev environment of Ísland.is will be temporarily closed. Dev environment is an area where developers develop and test digital processes. The purpose of the closure is an exercise that will increase security on Ísland.is systems in the event of an attack.
Automatic vehicle asset exchange
Concurrent updates for car and kilometer charges are now automatic, which means that the purchase and sale of vehicles can take place digitally all day long, every day of the week.
