Mortgage certificates are now digital

The District Commissioners continue to make their services digital, and now mortgage certificates can be retrieved through an electronic application on Ísland.is at any time. The mortgage certificate will be available immediately in the final step of the application process and can also be found in the applicant's inbox on island.is. Payment is made by credit card during the application process and the fee is ISK 2.000.

The application is connected to the District Commissioners' system and the employees at the relevant District Commissioners office can therefore monitor all cases and provide service if necessary.

Digital mortgage certificates are a part of the District Commissioners improved digital services, in the year 2021, the District Commissioners issued about 6.000 mortgage certificates so this new service will provide considerable convenience for applicants.
