Let's monitor the land together!
Land and Forest Iceland is currently seeking individuals to participate in the monitoring project titled "Landvöktun - lykillinn að betra landi". By participating, individuals will contribute valuable data that will be utilised in the evaluation of Icelandic vegetation and soil resources nationwide.
The project's English title can be roughly translated as "Land Monitoring - the Key to Enhanced Land Resources". It falls under the broader Grólind project, which aims to conduct regular comprehensive assessments of the nation's vegetation and soil resources. Additionally, it seeks to develop sustainability indicators for the utilisation of these resources.
The measurements gathered by participants will serve as an evaluation tool for the state of vegetation and soil nationwide. As public property, participants are free to utilise the data as they see fit. The monitoring methods undergo regular review, and participants have a significant impact on the parameters measured.
Land and Forest Iceland encourages everyone interested to participate, such as landowners, farmers and groups of various shapes and sizes. As more people participate in the monitoring process, the better the Grólind project goes, and thus more and better data is obtained.
