General
The chief of police in each district grants permission for motorsport competitions. Examples are races, rallies, GoKart, drift, motocross, kickoffs and off-road races on cars or motorcycles.
The permit is granted for 1 year at a time.
You can apply for a permit for more than 1 competition at a time, for example according to a competition calendar.
5 working days
Applications must be submitted at least 5 working days before the competition. All necessary documents must be included with the application.
Competitions
Permits are issued for competitions in sports conducted by Members within:
The Icelandic Motorcycle and Snowmobile Association for the competition of two and three-wheel vehicles and off-road bikes.
The Icelandic Motor Sport Association for competing on vehicles with four wheels, or more.
Necessary supporting data
A review from the Icelandic Motorcycle and Snowboarding Federation and/or the Icelandic Motor Sport Association, as appropriate. The review shall include a professional evaluation of safety aspects and proposals for implementation and monitoring at the race site in accordance with procedures.
Copy of insurance certificate – accident insurance for employees during competitions.
Copy of the insurance policy – guarantee of liability for the conduct of competition.
Authorisation of road maintenance and other interested parties as appropriate.
