Health requirements of crew members
When applying for and renewing the certificates, a medical certificate must be submitted stating that the crew member meets the conditions of sight and hearing, as well as other medical requirements.
Two types of medical certificates:
STCW-F certification of fishing vessels, patrol vessels, recreational craft, and other vessels (Icelandic certificates)
Holders of botmasters licenses and motor licenses on fishing vessels, patrol vessels, and other vessels over 24 meters at sea for more than three days shall also be able to produce a health certificate for operating if it so requests.
Medical examination and certification shall be carried out by primary healthcare practitioners/Marine practitioners.
The certificates shall be written on forms issued by the Icelandic Transportation Agency.

STCW passenger and cargo ship certification (International Convention)
Marine doctors shall carry out medical examinations and issue certificates.
The seafarer's medical certificates shall be written on forms issued by the Icelandic Transportation Office. Holders of STCW certificates serving on passenger and cargo ships should at all times be able to present a seafarer medical certificate together with a certificate of competency.
