Fishing arrangements and marking of fishing gear
Before a fishing trip begins, the operator shall ensure that the boat has catch quotas sufficient for the estimated by-catch.
During the same fishing trip, it is not permitted to engage in any fishing other than lumpfish fishing.
During the period 1st - 20th of March, it is not allowed to have more nets in sea than can be hauled up in one fishing trip.
Fishing time
Lumpfish net shall not be laid before 8:00 a.m. on the first valid day of the permit.
All lumpfish nets must be removed from the sea before the end of the permit period. Permit will be revoked if the maximum quota for lumpfish is reached.
Lumpfish nets should be taken ashore no later than the last day that the lumpfish permit is valid. It is not allowed to haul nets for another boat on the first valid day of the lumpfish permit.
Markings of fishing gear
Net buoys should all be equipped with a flag.
Flags should be marked with a district or ship registry number.
Bellows should be marked with a district or ship register number.
Net should be numbered from one to the number of nets that each ship has at the time.
Labels must be large and clear
According to regulation on marking of fishing gear and lost fishing gear each lead rail and floating rail must have the register number of the vessel.
Rail length
Each vessel may have a combined length of rails up to 7,500 metres per season.
Net length depends on the rail length (upper rail/floating rail) of the net.
Only nets of the same rail length may be used.

Monitoring of nets
Nets shall be hauled no later than three days after they have been put into sea, an exception is made when it is prevented due to weather. Then the captain must send notification to grasleppa@fiskistofa.is that the nets could not be retrieved due to weather conditions.
During the period 1st - 20th of March, nets shall be hauled no later than two days after they have been put into sea. Nets should be hauled up and stored if it looks like it will not be possible to haul them in the next two days due to weather conditions.
Lost nets
If a net is lost at sea, it must be searched for. If the net is not found, the captain shall send a notification to the Coast Guard and to the Directorate of Fisheries, stating as precisely as possible their location.
