Applications for lumpfish fishing permits are open
The regulation on lumpfish fishing in 2024 applies to the fishing.
Instructions:
- Own-account workers and authorised signatories apply for permit through digital application system on island.is.
- The Directorate of Fisheries points out that the permit is paid for during the application process and the permit can be issued immediately or a different start date can be chosen. Upon entry into force, the permit is sent to the person concerned mailbox at islands.is. Is this a change from the previous practice when you had to apply at least a day in advance or on a Friday if fishing was to start on a Monday.

Vessels that are licensed to fish for commercial purposes and have lumpfish rights can apply for lumpfish fishing permit.
Conditions
General fishing permit.
Vessel needs to have lumpfish rights.
The lumpfish rights need to be active.
You can send an e-mail to grasleppa@fiskistofa.is, requesting that lumpfish rights be removed from storage.
The application must state:
quantity of fishing nets
rail length
Note:
During the lumpfish fishing season, vessel can only have one lumpfish fishing permit.
To change the starting day of the permit, send an email to grasleppa@fiskistofa.is.
Payment for permits is during application process. The permit costs22.000 ISK
