Icelandic Teaching for Foreigners

The Ministry of Education and Children is responsible for the overall administration of grants for teaching Icelandic to foreigners.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their grant application by email. Those who are awarded a grant of ISK 1,000,000 or more will be required to sign a contract with Rannís (which, however, reserves the right to require a contract for lower grant amounts if circumstances so warrant).

At the start of the course and once the contract has been finalised, where applicable, up to 40% of the total grant amount is paid in advance. The final payment is made once sufficient information has been received for each course, including the names and national ID numbers of the participants.
